Department Profile

Kriya physiology is one of the most important professional subjects of the first year of B.A.M.S. In this subject, all the activities taking place in the body and mind under normal conditions are thoroughly researched. Ayurvedic concepts of physiology are also used to critically analyse and interpret them in the context of current human physiology.

Correct diagnosis and treatment of disease is possible only with a thorough understanding of Prakriti Pariksha, Dosha-Dhatu Vriddhi Kshaya, Sarat Pariksha, Aahar, Bal, Nadi Pariksha. Consequently, to develop good Vaidyas (physicians) in the field of Ayurveda, a comprehensive understanding of this subject as well as practical application is essential.

The basic principles of Karya physiology are ‘Dosha’, ‘Dhatu’, ‘Mala’ and ‘Agni’, which govern human physiology and are responsible for the development of disease when imbalanced. In this department, these fundamentals are objectively assessed using various physiological, biochemical, hematological and psychological parameters to impart scientific evidence-based knowledge. To meet these demands, a clinical human experimental laboratory and a physiology laboratory are available, both of which are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a variety of teaching materials.
