This department deals with Ayurvedic drug manufacturing including Herbal, Mineral, Herbomineral & Animal sources. The word Ras Shastra literally means the “Science of Mercury”. It is a specialized branch of Ayurveda dealing mainly with materials which are known as ‘Rasa dravyas’(Minerals, metals, gems , toxic substances etc). The products dealt under this discipline are an important component of Ayurvedic therapeutics. But generally refers to the science of making metals and minerals non toxic, effective against disease and easily absorbable for the body. These medicines are effective, fast acting & lesser dose and prepared through different procedure like- Shodhana (Purification), Bhawana (Trituration), Marana (Bhasma formation) etc. In Bhaishajya kalpana formulation are formed after Shodhana, Bhawana and Marana procedure so in this subject students are trained in various Ayurvedic preparations like Churna, Vati, Avaleha, Guggul, Asava etc. Students are practically trained in Ayurvedic Drug manufacturing in the attached Lab, Pharmacy & quality control section.
